Principles of Technology
courses are applied Physics courses designed for
tenth through twelfth grade students. Teachers assigned to teach these
courses are required to complete additional training. This training is
for teachers desiring to teach the Principles of Technology courses. Previously certified Principles of Technology teachers
do not need to be retrained.
Effective for the 2010-2011 school year the requirements for teaching
Principles of Technology are:

May also be taught with a a vocational
agriculture certificate or a trades and industry certificate with
verifiable physics applications experience in business and industry, if
assigned prior to the 1998-99 school year. Six semester credit
hours of college physics, chemistry, or electricity/electronics may be
substituted for the business and industry experience.
NOTE: All teachers assigned to
teach principles of technology shall participate in Texas Education
Agency approved training and have eight semester credit hours in physics
prior to teaching the course. At the discretion of the employing
school district, persons assigned to Principles of Technology prior to
the 2010-2011 school year may continue under the previous criteria.
